On a Saturday afternoon, Richard was going on a hiking trip with his five other friends over the weekend.
His parents told him to get back home before Monday. They drove Richard to the base of the mountain hike. Richard was only 17 years old and his friends on the hiking trip were around 15 to 18 years. Richard and his friends went on the forest bus which led them to the beginning of their long hiking trip. At the entrance of their hiking trip, they went to the registration counter to register their name in case of some emergency arose. Afterward, all six of them finished their registration with all their personal information they stumbled upon a pretty old guy who may be around his late 80s.
The old man spoke with a quiet but gently deep voice -
“Are you young boys ready for this long hike? I’ve been here for more or less all my life I know many things about this path that others don't. So, I advise you to keep in mind all the details of this hike. It happens that you may miss something big or small. Keep in mind to take note of all the details ”
The boys were a bit startled by what the old man just said, but one of the boys said
-” It's okay guys he is just trying to scare us”
and the others agreed with him. After they hiked for around 15 minutes, Richard couldn't get that old man's words out of his head but he was quick to brush that thought out of his head soon. After hiking for more than hours through the silent pathway of the woods and hills, one of Richards's friends said
“Oh guys we have hiked so far, we should now take a photo”
The others had a face of agreement and they told Richard to take the group photo since he was the tallest among his friends. Richard agreed and then they continued with their hike. After a few hours of hiking, they stopped since it was getting late and very dark. They decided to camp there for the night and warm up their cans of soups and noodles. They were quite tired and needed good sleep to carry on with their hike the next morning.
The next day, in the morning they all woke up at around the same time but Richard was probably one of the first to wake up since Richard didn't have the best sleep. It was the whistling of the wind outside their small tents that disturbed him throughout the night. They all carried on with their hiking. During a halt, when Richard was going through the photos they took yesterday he realized that there were seven shadows in all the photos. He quickly addressed that to the rest of his friends. His friends saw the same photos, that he was seeing but they could only see 6 shadows,-
” What are you talking about, back home, get your eyes checked”
Friends laughed out loud and Richard dismissed the problem. He thought he might be seeing things that were not there because he didn't have a good sleep. After a while one of his friends started whistling and Richard remembered that was the sound he heard of the wind when he was trying to sleep last night.
Gradually the whistling kept getting louder and louder as if all of his friends were whistling ever loudly. Richard looked back and screamed at them .. “what ?“
But when he looked back at his friends he could only see that the friends were not there but five black shadows in the shape of their friends. His vision started going dark.
Later, he woke up on a chilled white bed with a white floor with a bunch of shadows surrounding him and all he could hear was the whistling sound of the wind.
He slowly blacked out again to wake up in a hospital watching the TV news saying that six boys were found mysteriously dead on the ‘tricky meanders’ hiking route. Among the victims' family, it were Richard's parents. They broke down in tears and agony while describing the last memory of Richard. Richard could not believe his senses! When they were about to say something a black shadow switched the TV off.
